Title: I’m only Sleeping

Just like everything in this century, the zeds are a short hand representation of the original depiction; a saw cutting a log dating back from over a century ago, was used to represent the sound of sleep. Life is moving too fast to interpret a saw and a log. Our busy days, crammed with technology and e-socialising barely allow the time to sleep. Patti’s work is a response to today’s life and its demands on our time. A string of three zeds is nationally and internationally recognized as the symbol of taking a snooze, of somebody deep in slumber, or of loud snoring. The zeds are so prevalent in our lives that mobile phone providers have created an emoji symbol for it. Too busy to even type three Zeds!
